Scheduled - On February 18, 2025, the VPN application AnyConnect will be replaced with a new, rebranded version called Cisco Secure Client. After the update, you'll notice a new name (Cisco Secure Client) and a refreshed look when you connect to VPN, but functionality and the way you connect will stay the same.

EKS Nodegroup, where Rundeck PRD runs, will be updated and restarted on Feb 19 2025, from 10:00 - 16:00 PT. Rundeck service will be interrupted during the upgrade for up to 15 minutes.

Services may be impacted for up to 15 minutes during the deployment process.

The Pay For Print System in UBC Vancouver will undergo maintenance on February 20, 2025 from 21:00 to 23:30 PT. During this window, payforprint.ubc.ca website will be intermittently offline, and users will experience printing/copying service disruptions at the library and student residences.

Okanagan campus network in the EME Building will undergo network maintenance on February 22, 2025, 09:00-11:00 PT. During the maintenance, voice, data and wireless services will be periodically unavailable in the building. Occupants have received advance notice of this maintenance.

The UBC Enterprise LDAP Service will be undergoing system maintenance on February 26, 2025 from 06:00 - 07:00 PT. No authentication outages are expected.

Scheduled maintenance on the EduCloud Server environment (https://bcnet.educloud.ubc.ca) will be performed on March 1, 2025 from 09:00-17:00 PT.

Virtual machines running on the EduCloud Server service will remain up and running. Administrators will be able to manage virtual machines via other management methods such as RDP and SSH, but will not be able to manage them through the EduCloud Portal.

Monitoring - Duo has identified the issue and implemented a fix. Phone call and SMS are working with Duo MFA. UBC IT is continuing to monitor the situation.

Investigating - There is currently an issue with the Duo cloud application, affecting UBC’s multi-factor authentication services. User may not be able to use phone call to pass the MFA prompt. SMS is intermittently unavailable.

If you are relying on phone call as your primary MFA factor, please try using SMS instead. Other MFA methods such as Duo Push, Passcodes, and Hardware Tokens are functional.

Self-service device management and Duo Admin are also unavailable.

Investigating - We are aware of sporadic issue with MyVPN service, where the multi-factor authentication prompt is slow to arrive, causing the connection attempt to time out.

In all instances, a second attempt to connect to MyVPN will resolve the issue.

If you experience repeated issues trying to connect to MyVPN, please contact the Okanagan Service Desk at x7-9000 (250-807-9000).
Technicians are investigating and an update will provided when more information is available.
