Yahoo Security Issue

Yahoo has recently confirmed that they have identified data security issues concerning a number of Yahoo user accounts dating back to a breach in August 2013, where more than one billion user accounts’ data were stolen.  Examples of stolen user data may include names, email addresses, telephone numbers, dates of birth, hashed passwords, and security questions and answers.

Although Yahoo has stated that they will contact impacted users, UBC IT recommends you to change your password if you have a Yahoo account. In addition, please change your Campus-Wide Login (CWL) password if it is the same as your Yahoo account as a safety precaution.  You should never re-use your CWL credentials on any third party sites.

For questions or concerns, please contact security@ubc.ca
