DNS change required to support Exchange 2007 February 1, 2010 09:00 – 09:15

On Monday, February 1st 2010 at 9:00am, UBC IT will be adding autodiscover.exchange.ubc.ca as a service record for the ubc.ca domain to resolve an Exchange 2007 free/busy lookup issue for those using firstname.lastname@ubc.ca as their primary Exchange e-mail address.

This change will not result in any outage. However, there will be a slight change in behaviour for those setting up Outlook 2007, Entourage 2008 and Mac Mail (Snow Leopard) using the Auto Account Setup wizard with firstname.lastname@ubc.ca as the e-mail address. Those who do not manually set up their e-mail account and use firstname.lastname@ubc.ca as their e-mail address may be redirected to Exchange for account set up. Customers can choose to deny this if they do not use the Exchange service.
