Investigating - UBC Vancouver Network Intermittent Download Issues, April 11, 2025, 12:00 PT

Some users are reporting intermittent issues with downloading large files on UBC Vancouver networks. In some cases downloads may just stop mid-download, and not complete.

UBC IT technicians are still investigating. Anyone encountering this problem can try using the resume/restart download functionality within the web browsers to work around the issue (if the browser has this option).

The next update will be at 08:00 PT on April 14.

On March 18, 2025 at approximately 23:45 PT, UBC IT implemented a temporary fix to resolve the login issue affecting access to outlook.office.com. The team continues to work with Microsoft on finding a resolution but access has been restored for now. Please continue to monitor this site if you encounter any further login difficulties.

Access to outlook.office.com is still unavailable. The team is continuing to work with Microsoft to address this authentication issue. Please continue to use the identified workarounds below to access your email until this issue is resolved.

Workarounds:
1) Access Webmail using the M365 Portal: To access webmail, please log in to https://portal.office.com, click on the Apps menu at the top left of the window and then select Outlook.
2) Download and Set Up Outlook for Mobile on your iPhone or Android device or Outlook on your Desktop:
a. Faculty/Staff: https://it.ubc.ca/microsoft-365/current-projects/exchange-online-migration#ios
b. Students: https://it.ubc.ca/microsoft-365/current-projects/microsoft_foundation_services_project/m365_ubc_student_migration

Identified - Access to webmail via outlook.office.com is currently unavailable. However the service is operational with a workaround. To access webmail, please log in to https://portal.office.com, click on the Apps menu at the top left of the window and then select Outlook. Technicians have identified the issue and are working with the vendor to resolve the issue.

UBC ARC Chinook will be unavailable on Tuesday, April 15 from 09:00 until 18:00 PT for routine maintenance.

User Impact:

1. You will be unable to log in or transfer data to/from Sockeye.
during the outage.

2. All jobs will be queued. In rare circumstances there may be a
need to resubmit running jobs.
