Outage Plan Task Description Services Impacted Outage Duration/Reason

A1/L1 Catalyst 6509 Upgrade

Maintenance time:
7 a.m. – 5 p.m.

  • Cisco Catalyst 6509 switch which provide port densities to the wiring pairs have well exceeded vendor-supported HSRP limits. Upgrading will extend the life span of this hardware.
  • Single-homed networks (indicated by ANGUHUB1, LFSCHUB1) will have no network connectivity for up to 2 hours while the hardware modules are being replaced.
  • AP service will be unavailable during A1 upgrade
  • Failover redundancy in place. Intermittent to no impact anticipated. Validation and testing plans in place.
  • VPN may experience intermittent connectivity interruption during switch over. Re-login maybe required.

Student Information Services

Maintenance time:
7 a.m. – 5 p.m.

  • Increase hardware resources by adding more CPU and memory to the database to handle growing load.
  • Student Service Centre (SSC), Faculty Service Centre (FSC), Student Information Service Centre (SISC), Online Admissions Application, Course schedule, Student Financials, UBC e-Payment (CBM), CT Connect, BBA, Accept an Offer client, ePayment, ez-Recruit, SIS API.
  • There is no failover redundancy. The Services and Database will be unavailable during this maintenance time. Validation and testing plans are in place.
