Scheduled - The EduCloud Server backup software will undergo maintenance from April 18, 2024, 09:30 PT to May 2, 2024, 16:30 PT. During the maintenance window, requests for restores may be delayed by a few hours as we complete the upgrades in various locations. There will be no impact to virtual machine management or provisioning through the EduCloud Server Administration Portal.

Monitoring - A workaround has been put in place for this issue. This issue only impacts users who are obtaining a MATLAB license for the very first time (existing MathWorks account holders renewing licenses are not affected). Please see the link below to ensure the prerequisites are met before ordering a MATLAB license.

Identified - UBC IT has identified the issue and is working with the vendor on a workaround. Existing MathWorks account holders are not affected and are able to obtain MATLAB licenses.

Investigating - Some users are experiencing issues creating a new MathWorks account, which is required to obtain a MATLAB license. Users experiencing the issue are unable to create the MathWorks account even after using a UBC email address. UBC IT is investigating the issue with the vendor.

Network maintenance will occur for the Okanagan campus on April 24, 2024, 21:00-22:00 PT. VPN service will not be available during the maintenance window. Those wishing to use general VPN services can use myvpn.ubc.ca for connectivity. Private VPN pools will not be available.

The Halogen site will be undergoing site maintenance from April 24, 2024, 23:00 PT to April 25, 2024, 01:00 PT. Halogen at https://it.ubc.ca/hal will be unavailable for the duration of the change window.

Okanagan campus network in the Quonset office trailer and Portable-V buildings will undergo network maintenance on April 26, 2024, 09:30-12:00 PT. During the maintenance, voice, data and wireless services will be periodically unavailable in Quonset and Portable V. Occupants have received advance notice of this maintenance.

The wireless team will be performing network maintenance on April 28, 2024, 08:00 PT - 14:00 PT. During this time, there will be sporadic outages to all WiFi services at the following sites:

- UBC Vancouver
- UBC Okanagan
- UBC Robson Square
- UBC affiliated teaching hospitals (eduroam only) excluding those within the Vancouver Island Health Authority.
- Smaller remote sites where UBC IT managed wireless networks are available.

The EduCloud Server environment (https://bcnet.educloud.ubc.ca) and DR EduCloud Server environment (https://dr.educloud.ubc.ca) will be undergoing scheduled maintenance from April 27, 2024, 10:00 PT to May 10, 2024, 16:00 PT.

There are no outages expected to running virtual machines. There are no impacts to the EduCloud Server Administration Portal except during the below date:

April 27, 2024, 10:00 - 14:00 PT - Management of org and virtual machines will not be available for BCNET Kamloops orgs.
April 29, 2024, 14:00 - 18:00 PT - Management of org and virtual machines will not be available for UBC DR / HA Kamloops orgs.
May 5, 2024, 10:00 - 14:00 PT - Management of org and virtual machines will not be available for UBC and BCNET Vancouver orgs.

Scheduled - On September 27, 2023, UBC IT will be decommissioning UBC’s secondary Virtual Private Network (VPN) service, myvpn2.ubc.ca. This service was initiated in 2020 to accommodate for increased demand of VPN when the University rapidly moved to remote teaching, learning and research due to Covid. With the increased capacity of UBC’s main VPN service (vpn.ubc.ca), and the current situation of UBC operating with in-person classes, myvpn2 is no longer required.

If you are currently using the secondary VPN, myvpn2.ubc.ca, please switch your AnyConnect client to UBC’s main VPN, myvpn.ubc.ca to continue connecting remotely. Instructions on how to connect to UBC’s main VPN can be found at https://it.ubc.ca/services/email-voice-internet/myvpn/how-access-myvpn
