Some UBC Email addresses are not receiving Canvas Notifications โ€“ Aug 25, 2020 16:23 PT

There is currently an issue impacting those with a UBC email address added to their Canvas accounts, and causing email notifications to not send correctly. UBC is working with Canvas/Instructure to resolve this issue as fast as possible. Those that are affected will see a warning (!) next to their UBC email address. In the meantime, if you want to receive notifications to an alternate email address, you can add another email address to your profile in Canvas. For example, if the impacted email is an aliased address ( then the non-aliased version ( can be added.

To do this, select Account (from the left-hand navigation menu) > Settings, and then click the “+ Email Address” button under “Ways to Contact”. After adding a secondary email, hover your mouse over the new email and select the star icon to change the default email (if you have not used this address before, you will be prompted to confirm the email first).
