The UBC Network Team performed further maintenance on the wireless firewall Wednesday night to mitigate the intermittent wireless issues that have been reported.  Currently the wireless network is showing stable performance and we are monitoring the situation along with the vendor.

Further to our Bulletin earlier this afternoon, we experienced fewer calls and tickets logged in to our IT Service Centre today, and overall the wireless network has been stable this afternoon. Working with our vendor, the Network team has identified three potential root causes and deployed two recommendations today and will be deploying a third recommendation on Wednesday to increase our capacity to handle more wireless traffic. We continue to monitor this situation should there be any noticeable activity that may return.

Last Wednesday and Thursday, campus users experienced some intermittent Wi-Fi access issues on the Vancouver campus. Our technical team contacted the vendor to investigate possible resolutions, and was able to resolve the issue with a workaround. There were no further issues noted until yesterday, when users began experiencing the same issue. The issue with the vendor has now been escalated to a higher priority, and UBC’s Network team continues to work with them on a resolution throughout today. Further details will be provided to the campus community as more information becomes available.
