Reason: The marine fiber along this segment was cut at the above
time. Personnel and facility were brought onto site for
repairs with mitigations necessary due to weather and
tide challenges. Splicing and testing was completed and
services restored on December 2.
Effects: Peering services offered from CANARIE to BCNET were
impacted during this time and appeared as congestion or issues
loading pages such as for Google or Facebook.
Some mitigations were done however capacity is limited
on alternate pathways.
No other BCNET network services are impacted.
The following CANARIE services were impacted:
Peering services through Seattle
NRC – Victoria Lightpath
Some of these have been reprovisioned over an alternate path
until repairs are completed.
