Update: Virus Quarantine October 22, 2014 1228 PT

Please see the update below with regards to the ongoing virus issue. This relates to the previous posts of:

FASmail Virus Quarantine Notices- October 21, 2014 11:20 PT

Your anti-virus may have detected the virus recently; or you may have been contacted by UBC IT regarding the status of your account

Characteristics of the virus include:
-A Zip file called F44907162.zip was downloaded
-An email subject line of “Unpaid Invoic” or “Daily Report” was received

Due to the nature of the virus, it is highly advised to backup your files to a network share or removable media and reimage your computer.

If you believe your system has been infected by this Trojan please contact your department’s IT support team for assistance or contact security@ubc.ca

If your antivirus has caught and quarantined this file, then your system is not infected. Take the following steps:
a. Choose the option in your antivirus program that cleans the infection from the quarantine area
b. Delete the original email that contained the Trojan, as an attachment
